Muscat: Oman's mosques will reopen for Friday prayers from tomorrow, after a closure that lasted around one-and-half years.
Due to the noticeable decrease in the curve of Covid 19 cases and deaths, the Supreme Committee to deal with COVID-19 had issued a decision on September 19 to reopen mosques for Friday prayers from September 24 with certain controls, including not allowing entry to those who have not been vaccinated, and requesting a commitment to social distancing, bringing special carpets and the wearing of a mask and permitting only 50 per cent of the mosque's capacity to enter.
The decision to halt Friday prayers was taken on March 15, 2020.
