Muscat: Over 90 per cent of the Al Hazm Castle maintenance work in the Wilayat of Rustaq has been completed.

"The completion rate of the Al Hazm Castle maintenance work in the Wilayat of Rustaq in the South Al Batinah Governorate, which was implemented by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, has reached 95 per cent," Oman News Agency (ONA) said in a statement.

Amjad bin Ahmed Al Mukhaldi, Director of the Department of Restoration and Maintenance at the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, said that the project comes within the framework of the ministry’s efforts to preserve archaeological and historical monuments in the governorates and wilayats of Oman, including castles, forts and heritage homes.

"The project included treating the deep cracks in the external facades and extending towards the internal ceilings of the fort, restoring other damaged structural parts, rebuilding ceilings, maintaining floors and external fences, treating electrical works, restoring the mosque and addition of washrooms," Al Mukhaldi added.
