MSX index ends marginally lower

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 3,920.94 points, down 0.62 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended down by 0.68 per cent at 583.91 points.

National Aluminum Product, down 4.76 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Bank Dhofar was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 334 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR2.2 million, with more than 11 million shares changing hands. Out of 44 traded securities, 0 advanced, 28 declined and 16 remained unchanged. At the session close, local investors were net buyers for OMR600,000 while foreign investors were net sellers for OMR652,000 followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR51,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6,286 points, up 0.21 per cent. Prices Oman & Qatar Insurance, Global Investment Holding, Takaful Oman, Al Sharqia Investment and Madina Takaful were down 3.33 per cent, 3.08 per cent, 3.06 per cent, 2.08 per cent and 1.92 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 6,017.38 points, down 0.34 per cent. National Aluminum Product, Al Maha Ceramics, Gulf International Chemical, Al Anwar Ceramics and Raysut Cement were down 4.76 per cent, 2.03 per cent, 1.87 per cent, 0.92 per cent and 0.76 per cent respectively.

Services Index was down by 0.48 per cent before closing at 1,680.62 points. Sharqiyah Desalination, Al Maha Marketing, Renaissance Services, OIFC and National Gas were down 2.54 per cent, 2.33 per cent, 2.31 per cent, 1.43 per cent and 1.43 per cent respectively.
