Muscat: The annual festival of camel races for 2021/2022 season will start on Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at Al Bashayer Camel Race track in the Wilayat of Adam in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate.
"The annual festival of the 19th camel races for the 2021/2022 season, organised by the Royal Court Affairs, represented by the Royal Camel Race, will start tomorrow. Al Bashayer Camel Race track in the Wilayat of Adam in Al-Dakhiliyah Governorate is witnessing the first competitions, according to the precautionary measures for Covid-19," Oman News Agency (ONA) said in a statement.
Hamid bin Ali Al Zari, Director General of the Royal Camel, said that camel racing in the Sultanate is under the care of His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik, as it is one of the most important cultural and heritage legacies inherent to the Omanis.
Al Zari pointed out that the annual festival will start from Al Bashayer track in the Wilayat of Adam, which three consecutive races, the first of which will be held on 22 and 23 September, the second on 6 and 7 October, and the third race on 20 and 21 October.
