MSX index ends marginally higher

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 3,945.31 points, up 0.08 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up by 0.44 per cent at 587.88 points.

Oman Education & Training, up 7.73 per cent, was the top gainer while Renaissance Services, down 2.26 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of HSBC Bank Oman was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 279 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR1 million, with more than 5 million shares changing hands. Out of 38 traded securities, 4 advanced, 13 declined and 21 remained unchanged. At the session close, local investors were net sellers for OMR163,000 while foreign investors were net buyers for OMR161,000 followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR2,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6,286 points, up 0.21 per cent. Prices Sohar International Bank, Al Madina Investment and Bank Nizwa were up 2.20 per cent, 1.67 per cent and 1.05 per cent respectively. United Finance, Al Omaniya Financials, Global Investment, Madina Takaful and National Bank Oman were down 1.75 per cent, 1.72 per cent, 1.52 per cent, 0.95 per cent and 0.53 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 6,017.38 points, down 0.34 per cent. Oman Flour Mills, Al Maha Ceramics and Raysut Cement were down 2.00 per cent, 0.81 per cent and 0.76 per cent respectively.

Services Index was down by 0.48 per cent before closing at 1,680.62 points. Oman Education & Training was the only gainer by 7.73 per cent. Renaissance Services, Oman National Engineering, OIFC and Omantel were down 2.26 per cent, 2.17 per cent, 2.10 per cent and 0.53 per cent respectively.
