Muscat: PCR test is no longer required to enter Abu Dhabi emirate, starting from September 19, the Emergency and Crisis Management Committee in Abu Dhabi announced.

The Emirates News Agency said: "The Emergency and Crisis Management Committee in Abu Dhabi updates the procedures for entering the Emirate of Abu Dhabi from within the country, and approves cancelling the requirements for COVID-19 examinations for entry, starting from September 19, 2021."

The decision comes after the announcement of reduction in the infection rates from COVID-19 which has come down to 0.2 per cent of the total population in the Abu Dhabi emirate. The implementation of the green traffic system to enter some public places is also expected to come into effect.

To protect community members and travellers in the emirate, Abu Dhabi implemented a ‘Green Pass’ protocol on August 20, 2021, enabling only those that are fully vaccinated to be officially exempted or under 16 years of age, to access key public places and attractions.

The Agency added: "The committee will continue to monitor the epidemiological situation and urged citizens, residents and visitors to adhere to precautionary measures in order to ensure the health and safety of community members."
