MSX index ends marginally higher

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 3,963.96 points, up 0.10 per cent from previous close. The Sharia Index ended down by 0.24 per cent at 589.66 points.

Galfar Engineering, up 5.13 per cent, was the top gainer while Oman & Qatar Insurance, down 5.00 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Bank Nizwa Right Issue was the most active in terms of number of shares traded while Bank Muscat were most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 417 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating turnover of OMR2.2 million, with more than 21.7 million shares changing hands. Out of 41 traded securities, 7 advanced, 14 declined and 20 remained unchanged.

At the session close, foreign investors were net buyers for OMR9,000 while local investors were net buyers for OMR298,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR228,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6,329 points, up 0.22 per cent. Price of National Bank Oman, HSBC Bank Oman and Ominvest were up 2.65 per cent, 1.09 per cent and 0.64 per cent respectively. Oman & Qatar Insurance, Taageer Finance, Muscat Finance, Global Investment Holding and Bank Nizwa were down 5.00 per cent, 2.44 per cent, 1.61 per cent, 1.47 per cent and 1.03 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 6,024.46 points, up 0.24 per cent. Price of Galfar Engineering was the only gainer by 5.13 per cent. Dhofar Cattle Feed and Al Anwar Ceramics were down 2.44 per cent and 0.45 per cent respectively.

Services Index was down by 0.28 per cent before closing at 1,709.51 points. Dhofar Generating, National Gas and Ooredoo were up 2.40 per cent, 0.68 per cent and 0.53 per cent respectively. Oman Investment & Financials, Muscat Desalination and Al Jazeera Services were down 2.05 per cent, 1.22 per cent and 0.52 per cent respectively.
