Muscat: Intensive inspection campaigns have been carried out by the Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) on libraries and stationery stores in the Wilayat of Al Mazyona in Dhofar Governorate in preparation for the start of the new academic year 2021/2022.

"The Consumer Protection Department in Al Mazyona has recently intensified its inspection campaigns on libraries and stationery stores in preparation for the start of the new academic year 2021/2022 and the return of students to their schools," CPA said in a statement.

As the administration formed a working team consisting of judicial control officers to work on inspecting various centres and shops in general, and libraries and stores selling fabrics and shoes in particular, to ensure the availability of all school goods and supplies, and to ensure the monitoring of promotions and discounts that accompany the back-to-school season.

The team will also work to educate suppliers about the need to abide by consumer protection laws and legislation in order to avoid legal accountability and not to take advantage of the current period to raise prices without justification. There has been an increase in the rate of purchases due to families' demand to buy school supplies and tools for their children.
