Muscat: The daily number of vaccinated expat workers with COVID-19 vaccine in Muscat Governorate has reached between 1,200 to 1,500 during the one-week immunisation drive that was launched on August 16.
"As part of the ongoing mass vaccination campaign, the Ministry of Health (MoH), represented by the Directorate General of Health Services in Muscat Governorate vaccinated the new target group that covers unskilled labour residents who work in various segments of society such as barbershops, laundry and ironing, restaurants and cafes, " the Ministry of Health (MOH) said in a statement.
The DGHS-Muscat has defined a certain mechanism to vaccinate the new category in collaboration with Muscat Municipality, which involved stock taking of the specified occupations of workers in Muscat's wilayats and handing them cards specifying the day and place of taking the vaccine.
The one-week immunisation drive, launched on August 16, took place in several locations including Sablat Muttrah, the Medical Fitness Examination Center in Seeb - Al Sharadi, the hall of Al Amera Wali office, Sahel Health Center in Quriyat, and the Bousher Club. The targeted group has received the first dose of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine, and will be vaccinated with the second dose after six weeks from getting the first dose.
The campaign has seen a great turnout from the target group as the daily number of vaccinated workers reached between 1200 and 1500. All data of the immunisation has been documented in Tarassud+ app.
