
Muscat: The number of private hospitals and medical centers in Oman has reached more than 1,600.
"The number of private hospitals and medical centers in the Sultanate has reached 1,696, including 31 private hospitals, 335 health centers and complexes, and 129 public clinics, in addition to 1,201 specialised clinics," Oman News Agency (ONA), said in a statement.
Dr. Mazin bin Jawad Al Khabouri, Director General of the Directorate General of Private Health Institutions at the Ministry of Health, said that private health institutions are one of the main pillars of the health system in the Sultanate along with the rest of the government health institutions affiliated with the Ministry of Health.
Al Khabouri explained that the licensing of these private health institutions is done by the Directorate General of Private Health Institutions after completing all the controls that qualify them to provide health services of a high level to ensure the health and safety of health service recipients.
