MSX index ends marginally lower

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 3,960.21 points, down 0.28 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended lower by 0.17 per cent at 594.11 points.

Construction Materials Industry, up 3.45 per cent, was the top gainer while Vision Insurance, down 3.75 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover.

A total number of 428 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR8.72 million, with more than 24.3 million shares changing hands. Out of 53 traded securities, 6 advanced, 15 declined and 32 remained unchanged. At the session close, domestic investors were net buyers for OMR536,000 while GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR363,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR174,000 worth of shares.

          
Financial Index closed at 6,290.19 points, down 0.14 per cent. Oman Qatar Insurance Company and Al Omaniya Financial Services were up by 2.67 per cent, and 0.87 per cent respectively. Prices of Vision Insurance, Global Investment Holding, Muscat Finance, Al Madina Investment, and Ahli Bank were down by 3.75 per cent, 2.94 per cent, 1.64 per cent, 1.59 per cent, and 0.92 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 5922.81 points, down 0.24 per cent. Construction Material Industry closed higher by 3.45 per cent. Prices of Al Anwar Ceramics, Galfar Engineering, and Oman Cement were down by 1.32 per cent, 1.27 per cent, and 0.44 per cent respectively.

Services Index was down by 0.25 per cent before closing at 1,704.28 points. Prices of Shell Oman Marketing, and Musandam Power were up by 2.27 per cent, and 1.85 per cent respectively. Renaissance Services, Al Jazeera Services, Oman National Engineering, Dhofar Generating, and Omantel were down by 2.67 per cent, 1.97 per cent, 1.10 per cent, 0.78 per cent and 0.52 per cent respectively.
