Officials take stock of houses damaged during Hajj depression in Oman
Apart from the damage, sustainable solutions to protect citizens and the area from the dangers of climatic conditions were also reviewed.

Muscat: The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning held a joint coordination meeting to assess the damage caused by the effects of climatic conditions (Hajj Depression) in the Wilayat of Sur.

The participants in the meeting proposed solutions for the damaged houses, and suggested measures to ensure the safety of citizens in the future.

During the meeting, a joint visual presentation was made by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources.

Eng Issa bin Salem Al Hajri, Director of the Urban Planning Department at the Directorate General of Housing in South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, gave a presentation to find sustainable solutions to protect citizens and the area from the dangers of climatic conditions in the wilayat.

Al Hajri reviewed the affected villages by the depression (Sabakh, Al Batin and Al Janah), the level of damage, as well as the number of houses and population, the topographical nature of the area that caused the floods, and the mechanism to avoid it in the future.

The housing ministry, a number of government authorities and charitable organisations, had previously conducted a field visit to the areas affected by the rains to assess the situation on the ground, determine the extent of the damage and listen to the people in order to reach radical and sustainable solutions.

The meeting was held in the presence of Eng Hamad bin Ali Al Nazwani, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning for Housing, Dr. Yahya bin Badr Al Mawali, Governor of South Al Sharqiyah, Eng. Ali bin Mohammed Al Abri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries Wealth and Water Resources, Dr. Nasser bin Rashid Al Mawali, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy, and Sheikh Rashid bin Ahmed Al Shamsi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Development and Director General of Budget at the Ministry of Finance, Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Barashdi and a number of government officials.
