Muscat: More than 19,000 job opportunities have been provided for Omanis in the government and private sectors in Oman during the first six months of 2021.
"19,023 job opportunities were created in the government and private sectors in the Sultanate during the first half of this year, with an achievement rate of 58.9 per cent of the total target number according to the executive plan 2021," Oman News Agency (ONA), said in a statement.
A report issued by the Ministry of Labour indicated that these opportunities were distributed among 8,493 job opportunities in the units of the state’s administrative apparatus, represented in 3,381 in the Ministry of Education, 1,965 in the Ministry of Health, 292 at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences, 175 in the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, and 2,680 distributed among the rest of the units.
The report obtained by the Oman News Agency (ONA), indicates that 951 job opportunities were provided in the sectors supervised by government bodies and units.
It also indicated that the number of Omanis who were appointed for the first time in the private sector reached 5,583, distributed among 1,329 people without a general education diploma, 1,718 people with a general education diploma and its equivalent, 683 people with a university diploma, 1,813 people with a university degree, and 40 people with a master’s and doctorate.
In addition, 547 job opportunities were created through the initiatives of the Ministry of Labour, and 3,449 job opportunities resulted from training and qualification from the human resources development sector, represented in employment-related training, on-the-job training, and an entrepreneurship program for small and medium enterprises.
