Muscat: Eng. Ahmed Maati Al Mutairi, Director-General of the GCC Accreditation Centre (GAC), has lauded the issuance of Royal Decree No. 55/2021 ratifying the establishment of the GAC.
In a statement to Oman News Agency (ONA), Eng. Ahmed Maati stressed the GAC’s mandate to activate accreditation activity in the Sultanate in coordination with the departments concerned.
The aim, he said, is to develop the infrastructure of quality building and contribute to the realisation of Oman Vision 2040.
Other objectives of the GAC include: Enhancing the role of the private sector in product safety guarantee for some services, facilitating commercial exchange among GCC states, ameliorating the quality of national products to facilitate their access to global markets, empowering human resources in key sectors and lending support to small and medium enterprises, according to Eng. Ahmed Maati.
He pointed out that GCC institutions’ rating can be improved in global indices of competition, market fairness and foreign investment with the collaboration of efforts of the ministries and national authorities.
Eng. Ahmed Maati affirmed that the GAC would spare no effort in supporting national projects and initiatives in Oman through its presence within the Sultanate.
