MSX index ends marginally higher

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,019.42 points, up 0.43 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index down 0.42 per cent at 590.73 points.

National Aluminum Product, up 5.41 per cent, was the top gainer while SMN Power Holding, down 7.46 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Muscat Finance were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Renaissance Services were most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 504 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR2 million, with more than 10.5 million shares changing hands. Out of 41 traded stocks, 12 advanced, 12 declined and 17 remained unchanged.

At the session close, local investors were net buyers for OMR361,000 while foreign investors were net sellers for OMR243,000 followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR118,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6,400.22 points, up 0.53 per cent. Prices of Oman & Emirates Holding, Bank Dhofar, Muscat Finance, National Bank Oman and Bank Nizwa were up 2.86 per cent, 2.50 per cent, 1.59 per cent, 1.08 per cent and 1.02 per cent respectively. Al Sharqia Investment, Taageer Finance, Al Omaniya Financial Services and Oman United Insurance were down 1.94 per cent, 1.22 per cent, 0.83 per cent and 0.48 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 5,927.69 points, down 0.24 per cent. Prices of National Aluminum Product and Al Anwar Ceramics were up 5.41 per cent and 1.29 per cent respectively. Oman Flour Mills, Raysut Cement, Jazeera Steel Product and Oman Cement were down 1.96 per cent, 1.51 per cent, 0.49 per cent and 0.44 per cent respectively.

Services Index was up 0.08 per cent, closing at 1,715.45 points. Prices of Dhofar Generating, Oman Investment & Financials and Renaissance Services were up 3.20 per cent, 1.57 per cent and 0.88 per cent respectively. SMN Power Holding, Al Jazeera Services and Muscat Desalination were down 7.46 per cent, 3.38 per cent and 1.18 per cent respectively.
