Marine vessel seized over illegal activity in Oman

Muscat: A marine unit has been seized by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology over unlicensed activity.

"Within the framework of the efforts of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology in monitoring marine activities and the extent of their owners’ commitment to safety requirements and the operation of marine units according to the licensed activity, the Judicial Enforcement Officer at the Directorate General of Maritime Affairs, in cooperation with the Coast Guard Police at the Royal Oman Police, was able to seize a marine unit that engaged in unlicensed tourist activity, which is in violation of the maritime law and regulations. Legal action has been taken against the violator," the ministry said in a statement.

The ministry stressed the importance of operating marine units and ships according to the licensed activity.
