Oman begins preparations National Day 2021 celebrations

Muscat: People driving across parts of Oman will soon be able to see decorations being put up for the upcoming National Day.

Preparations for the 51st National Day, which falls on November 18, 2021, are to get underway, with tenders having been issued for the decoration of public spaces and landmarks in the country to mark the occasion.

Three tenders were issued by the Secretariat General for National Celebration, the government body tasked with organising National Day events.

“The tenders include decoration work on designated sites, arches and trees for the celebrations of the 51st National Day,” the organisation said in a statement.

Tender documents can be collected on working days from August 12 to August 18, 2021. The bidding process is open to relevant companies that have at least a grade two qualification.

“A tenderer must submit documents stating their grade, registration certificates, and relevant papers issued by the concerned authorities when collecting tender documents,” added the government body.

The Secretariat General recently met to discuss National Day celebrations under the chairmanship of Sebaa bin Hamdan Al Saadi, the body’s Secretary General, in the presence of representatives of other government organisations.

Tenders need to be submitted in a red envelope sealed with wax, addressed to HM Secretariat General of National Celebrations.

The tenderer must also enclose an approved bank guarantee or certified cheque for the value of one per cent of the tender sum, which is valid for 90 days.

Tender documents will need to be collected after paying an OMR25 fee for each tender. “The committee is not bound to accept the lowest or any offer,” added the Secretariat General.

Additional information can be sought from the body’s technical office, which can be reached on +968 24 601 271.
