UAE makes COVID-19 booster shots mandatory for vaccinated people

Muscat: The UAE is allowing only vaccinated people in public places, and it is necessary for people to periodically conduct a PCR test as well as take a booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine every six months.

The Committee for the Management of Emergencies, Crises and Disasters caused by the coronavirus pandemic in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi adopted the mechanism for letting people enter public places limited to vaccinated people, which will come into force from August 20, 2021.

According to Emirates News Agency WAM: "Entry is permitted to vaccinated people whose Alhosn application status is green and PCR test is required every 30 days. Children under 16 years of age don't need PCR test."

People who will not be allowed to enter public places includes unvaccinated people and those whose status on the application is gray.

The entry mechanism applies to visitors and tourists in the Emirate, following the protocol for coming from outside the country. The unvaccinated are given a period of 60 days to receive the vaccination.‎"To maintain the rating of “vaccinated” on the Al-Hosn app, the booster dose must be obtained 6 months after the second dose according to the approved medical protocol for each vaccine, provided that a period of 30 days is given until September 20 before the colour-coding turns to gray, this excluded the participants in clinical trials of the COVID-19 vaccine," they added.
