Entertainment galore for you this weekend

While the perception of entertainment has changed in the current times owing to the pandemic upheavals, it is heartening that there are plenty of new movies releasing in theatres  or  streaming on different OTT platforms. This weekend it's time to catch up on some fresh movies. And whether you are watching in theatres or at home don't forget to grab a bucket of popcorn, your perfect movie partner.
 

The Suicide Squad

Released last week in theatres this movie is a “standalone sequel” to the critically panned 2016 film. It tells a separate story from the first film, with some of the same characters and cast returning. This time, the Squad must destroy a Nazi-era prison and laboratory where political prisoners are subject to torturous experiments, and they run into a giant alien named Starro. Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, John Cena, Joel Kinnaman, Sylvester Stallone, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, and Peter Capaldi star.

Free Guy

Starring Ryan Reynolds, Taika Waititi, Jodie Comer, the movie is about  a bank teller who discovers he is actually a background player in an open-world video game. He decides to become the hero of his own story…one he rewrites himself. Now in a world where there are no limits, he is determined to be the guy who saves his world his way… before it is too late.

El Ens W El Nems
Starring Bayoumi Fouad, Mohammed Henedi, Menna Shalabi, Amro Abduljalil, Sharif Dosogy, Sabren ,Mahmoud Hafed, Dina Maher, Selman Eid, Arfa Abdulrasol, and Mohammed Jomaa, this Arabic film is  about a poor young man who is working in a government job. He is exposed to problems and punishment because of his father's profession, and at the same time he relates to the love of his girlfriend who tries to help him solve his problems. Watch in theatres.

 Anything for Jackson
Starring Sheila McCarthy, Julian Richings, and Konstantina Mantelos is about a sinister couple who hatch a supernatural scheme to resurrect their dead grandson through a pregnant woman.

Shershaah

With its digital premiere on Amazon Prime, Shershaah is a war movie from Bollywood. Starring Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani in lead roles, it’s the perfect dose of Bollywood, action, drama and history you need this month. Directed by Vishnuvardhan and co-produced by Karan Johar, the film is set to be a biographical drama.

Kuruthi
Another new release on Amazon Prime is Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Kuruthi in Malayalam. It is a  political thriller film directed by Manu Warrier, and written by Anish Pallyal.

Al Rawabi School for Girls
The first Arabic young adult series to hit Netflix and with an all-female lead cast and crew, Al Rawabi School for Girls follows a group of high school outcasts who decide to enact revenge on their bullies and tormentors. Will these girls find satisfaction in their endeavor or will they question whether anyone can be all bad or all good—including themselves?
