Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,000.10 points, down 0.17 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index up 0.19 per cent at 588.01 points.
Voltamp Energy, up 1.59 per cent, was the top gainer while Al Suwadi Power, down 3.70 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover.
A total number of 679 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR2.4 million, with more than 14 million shares changing hands. Out of 50 traded stocks, 6 advanced, 19 declined and 25 remained unchanged.
At the session close, local investors were net sellers for OMR16,000 while foreign investors were net buyers for OMR13,000 followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR3,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 6,362.45 points, down 0.12 per cent. The price of Ominvest was up by 0.63 per cent. Al Batinah Development, Al Madina Investment, Muscat Finance, HSBC Bank Oman and Oman United Insurance were down 1.96 per cent, 1.61 per cent, 1.56 per cent, 1.04 per cent and 0.96 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 5,889.45 points, down 0.32 per cent. The price of Voltamp Energy was up by 1.59 per cent. While, National Aluminum Product, Al Anwar Ceramics, Galfar Engineering and Oman Cement were down 3.42 per cent, 2.13 per cent, 1.22 per cent and 0.43 per cent respectively.
Services Index was up by 0.15 per cent before closing at 1,719.89 points. Prices of Ooredoo, Al Jazeera Services and Renaissance Services were up 1.05 per cent, 1.01 per cent and 0.89 per cent respectively. Al Suwadi Power, Oman National Engineering, National Gas, Phoenix Power, and Al Batinah Power were down 3.70 per cent, 3.16 per cent, 2.74 per cent, 2.17 per cent and 1.96 per cent respectively.
