Muscat: Two Omani students are developing a hybrid energy system, in an effort promote of greener sources of energy.
"Khalifa bin Amer Al Qari and Saif bin Mohammad Al Mazrouei from the Engineering Department of University of Technology and Applied Sciences, Wilayat of Shinas, have developed this system. It can operate an electrical load of approximately 2,500 watts," Oman News Agency added in a statement.
The project was awarded second place in the 11th Engineering Student Forum, organised by the university, and has received funding from the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation.
Khalifa bin Amer Al Qari said that the idea driving the project was to reduce dependence on conventional sources of electrical energy.
The project began in September of 2019 and consists of a hybrid system by integrating more than one source of electric power generation, whether it is conventional or renewable energy.
