Muscat: The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology has extended the validity of seafarers' certificates and documents issued by this ministry or its authorised bodies till December 31, 2021.
"Based on the decision of Oman Supreme Committee to deal with the outbreak of COVID-19 and prevent its spread, please be advised that the validity of seafarers' certificates and documents mentioned below issued by or under the authority of this ministry has been extended until December 31,2021:
1- Certificates of Competency
2- Certificates of Proficiency
3- Seafarers' Medical fitness certificate
4- Seafarers' Identification Document," the ministry said in a statement.
"This circular does not include :
1- Seafarers' certificates and documents expired before May 1, 2020
2- Certificates of seafarers working on non-seagoing ships
3- Certificates and documents of seafarers who are not on board the ships. All that contravene with the circular is replaced," the statement added.
