Muscat: Travel and tourism offices have to notify the customers on cancellation and return policy when issuing a ticket in order to avoid legal liability, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism said in a statement.
The ministry said: "The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism in cooperation with the partners in tourism sector must regulate the travel and tourism offices. It has come to our notice that some travel and tourism offices issue airline tickets to travellers without notifying them on the ticket policies such as whether the ticket is valid for refund or exchange and the mechanism to change the travelling date or cancellation of the ticket, according to the airline terms and conditions."
"The ministry strongly urges all travel and tourism offices to notify the travellers and provide them with office stamped invoice and explain the details of the ticket purchased with its cancellation and return policy in both Arabic and English, in order to protect the passenger's legal rights and avoid legal liability."
