Muscat: Oman Oil Company has opened a new comprehensive service station on the road linking the Sultanate with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The company said in a statement: "In line with its strategy to expand its service network, Oman Oil Marketing Company has opened a new comprehensive service station in Wadi Al Haitham in Al Dhahirah Governorate, on the way to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia."
The company added: "Drive with peace of mind, we are always by your side, even across borders."
More than 130 million cubic metres of sand was removed as Oman gears up to open the 680km road to Saudi Arabia. Currently the quickest route between Oman and Saudi Arabia is 1,638 kilometres long, passing through the UAE which takes between 16 and 18 hours. The new road is expected to cut off more than 800 km of the journey.
