CMA publishes guidelines for Public Joint Stock Companies for consultation

Muscat: The Capital Market Authority (CMA) Published Draft Information Security Guidelines for Public Joint Stock Companies for consultation with the stakeholders.

The CMA urged all the public joint stock companies, audit firms, law firms, investors, academicians and interested persons to feedback on the draft guidelines to achieve community partnership.

CMA is aware, in preparing the draft guidelines, of the importance of compliance of the public joint stock companies with the information security guidelines as part of the risk management measures to enhance electronic security from any threats or breaches for the significance of the public companies sector to the capital market and to provide adequate protection to shareholders’ and stakeholders’ rights in the stock exchange as well as enhancing investors’ confidence in the Omani capital market.

CMA prepared the draft guidelines for information security  in collaboration with the National Centre for Cyber Defence, Ministry of Transport, Communication and Information Technology represented by the National Centre for Information Integrity.

The draft guidelines has been posted on the CMA’s website www.cma.gov.om to obtain the feedback of the public, the companies and stakeholders in the information security prior to adoption as rules. CMA will receive the feedback at ([email protected]).

CMA is preparing another guidelines for information security for the licenced entities regulated by the CMA which is  unique  due to the nature of the business of the licenced entities  in providing special services and products to a wide range of the investor and customers.
