Electricity supplier fined OMR 10 million in Oman

Muscat: A fine of OMR 10 million was imposed on one of the electricity supply companies due to its failure to provide services, the Authority of Public Services Regulation (APSR) announced at a press conference.

The authority also announced that by the end of this year, the solar energy supply station will start operating.

The head of the authority announced that a fixed tariff rate of 12 baisas was approved during the summer period starting from March to September for the first category, 16 baisas for the second category and 27 baisas for the third category.

His Excellency added: "People with low incomes will benefit from the new "1,000 kWh segments, in addition to the 33 per cent reduction."

An official from the authority stated that projects that would work on alternative energy (solar and wind) will be soon implemented in the Sultanate.
