MSX index ends marginally higher

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,037.74 points, up 0.18 per cent from previous close. The Sharia Index up 0.48 per cent at 587.71 points.

Gulf International Chemical, up 5.56 per cent, was the top gainer while SMN Power Holding, down 7.46 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Al Anwar Investment were the most active in terms of number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover.

A total number of 558 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating turnover of OMR2 million, with more than 15 million shares changing hands. Out of 46 traded stocks, 21 advanced, 8 declined and 17 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net sellers for OMR110,000 while GCC and Arab investors were net buyers for OMR58,000 followed by local investors for OMR51,000 worth of shares.   

Financial Index remained unchanged at 6,445.82 points, 0.00 per cent. Prices of Al Omaniya Financial Services, Al Sharqia Investment, Global Investment Holding, Bank Muscat and Ominvest were up 2.46 per cent, 1.98 per cent, 1.45 per cent, 1.35 per cent and 1.27 per cent respectively. Bank Dhofar, Ahli Bank, Muscat Finance, National Bank Oman and Dhofar Insurance were down 3.23 per cent, 1.75 per cent, 1.49 per cent, 1.08 per cent and 0.51 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 5,876.91 points, up 0.52 per cent. Prices of Gulf International Chemical, Voltamp Energy, Dhofar Cattle Feed, Galfar Engineering and Al Maha Ceramics were up 5.56 per cent, 4.00 per cent, 2.47 per cent, 2.44 per cent and 2.43 per cent respectively. National Aluminum Product was the only loser by 2.44 per cent.

Services Index was up by 0.68 per cent before closing at 1,720.80 points. Price of Renaissance Services, Phoenix Power, Oman Investment & Financials, Oman National Engineering and Oman Telecommunication were up 3.32 per cent, 2.22 per cent, 1.55 per cent, 1.05 per cent and 1.02 per cent respectively. SMN Power Holding and Al Suwadi Power were down 7.46 per cent and 1.85 per cent respectively.
