Muscat: Indian Social Club (ISC) Malayalam Wing is conducting an online quiz in association with Indian Embassy to commemorate its silver jubilee. It will also mark the 75th year of Indian independence.
The prelims will be held on August 6 and the semifinals will be held on August 11.
Students from all Indian schools in Oman are invited to participate in the quiz.
Grades 6 to 8 will participate in the junior category while grades 9-12 will participate in the senior level. The quiz will be completely online where each category will go through three subsequent rounds marked for preliminary, semi-final and finals.
The top 20 participants from the preliminary round will move on to the semi-final round. Maximum of two members from each school, six toppers of Indian schools will take the virtual stage on August 13 for the grand finale. The finale will go live on Facebook and YouTube. The main sponsor of the programme is Modern Exchange.
Questions will be of International & regional nature on a variety of subjects including travel, movies, literature, sports, geography, politics, music, TV show, science, history, language, comics, food, current affairs, mythology and wildlife. The questions will be in text, visual, audio or video format.
Hala Jamal, Oman's well-known quiz master and host of 'Muscat Codex' will conduct the show. The grand finale on August 13 is scheduled to go live at 5pm. Indian Ambassador to Oman, Munu Mahawar will inaugurate the programme.
ISC chairman Dr Satish Nambiar, General secretary Sri Babu Rajendran, Indian School board chairman Dr Shivakumar will be among the chief guests.
The top three performers shall win trophies, while all those who reach the final round will receive consolatory awards.
Convener P. Sreekumar along with co-convener Lekha Vinod, Treasurer Sri Ajit Kumar, Children wing secretary Tina Babu announced via a news report that the Malayalam wing stands proud in being able to move forward and being of service to the socio-cultural setting in Oman.
