Olympics: Strong performance by Omani team in athletics, weightlifting

Muscat: The Sultanate's athletes, participating in the Tokyo Olympics, are achieving good results in the sprint and weightlifting competitions.

A statement by the Ministry of Defence said: "International sprinter Sergeant Barakat bin Mubarak Al Harthy qualifies for the second stage of the men's 100-meter men sprint at Tokyo Olympics, after he won the first place in the second group of the preliminaries, achieving (10.27) seconds."

The Olympics Committee announced, "Weightlifter Amer Al Khanjari won second place in Group B and achieved a new record (317 kg), with an increase of 4 kg over his previous group, and his position will be known after the end of Group A competitions."
