MSX index ends marginally lower

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,005.91 points, down 1.12 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index down 0.97 per cent at 582.05 points.

National Gas, up 0.71 per cent, was the top gainer while National Aluminum Product, down 9.63 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Oman Investment & Financials were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover.

A total number of 620 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR3.2 million, with more than 13.8 million shares changing hands. Out of 49 traded stocks, 1 advanced, 32 declined and 16 remained unchanged. At the session close, local investors were net sellers for OMR60,000 while foreign investors were net buyers for OMR54,000 followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR6,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6,404.88 points, down by 1.12 per cent. Prices of Global Investment Holding, Oman & Qatar Insurance, Oman Arab Bank, United Finance and Al Sharqia Investment were down 4.29 per cent, 4.14 per cent, 3.65 per cent, 3.51 per cent and 2.91 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 5,741.61 points, down 1.22 per cent. Prices of National Aluminum Product, Galfar Engineering, Raysut Cement, Voltamp Energy and Oman Cement were down 9.63 per cent, 3.80 per cent, 3.33 per cent, 2.90 per cent and 2.04 per cent respectively.

Services Index was down by 1.12 per cent before closing at 1,707.86 points. The price of National Gas was up 0.71 per cent while Phoenix Power, Renaissance Services, Sohar Power, Ooredoo and Al Jazeera Services were down 4.26 per cent, 3.21 per cent, 2.22 per cent, 2.01 per cent and 2.00 per cent respectively.
