Saudi Arabia makes 2 vaccine doses mandatory for citizens travelling abroad

Muscat: All Saudi citizens wishing to travel outside the Kingdom have to receive the second dose of COVID-19 vaccine starting from August 9, 2021, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said.

"In view of what different countries are witnessing from the emergence of new waves of the COVID-19 pandemic and the emergence of mutations of the virus and the decrease in the effectiveness of one dose of the vaccine in facing these mutations, it was decided that all citizens should take the second dose of vaccine to travel outside the Kingdom, starting from August 9, 2021," SPA said in a statement.

"People under the age of 12 are excluded from this decision, provided that before travelling they submit an insurance policy approved by the Saudi Central Bank covering the risks of COVID-19 outside the Kingdom. Also, those recovering from COVID-19 are allowed to travel provided it has been six months since they were infected with the virus," the statement added.
