Weather update: Authorities rescue 40 families in Oman

Muscat: A total of 40 families were evacuated yesterday in the Wilayat of Shinas in Oman.

A statement issued online by Oman News Agency, (ONA), said: "Brigadier Abdullah bin Hamad Al Farsi, Police Commander of North Al Batinah Governorate, Chairman of the Subcommittee for Emergency Cases Management, confirms that all sectors of the subcommittee are on guard, especially the relief and shelter, basic services and the medical response sectors."

Brigadier Abdullah bin Hamad Al Farsi, said in a statement to the ONA, that three families who were stuck due to heavy rains were rescued, as well as seven vehicles containing 12 people who were stranded due to heavy rains in Wadi Falaj Al Qabail, they are all in good health.

The brigadier general also indicated that 40 families were evacuated yesterday in the popular area in the Wilayat of Shinas and moved to the shelters, providing basic care and services to them and they are in good health.

The Police Commander of North Al Batinah Governorate said that there are no reports of missing or drowning cases. The authority calls on everyone to be extremely careful and not to risk going down to the valleys and to watch out for children.
