Muscat: A number of governorates may witness heavy rainfall on Friday, said Oman Meteorology. It calls on everyone to take caution and avoid all low lying areas.
The Directorate General of Meteorology in a statement said: "Chances of thunderstorms will continue on Friday, July 16, 2021, in most of the governorates of the Sultanate, including the Al Hajar Mountains and surrounding areas. The intensity of rain may vary from 30 to 50 millimetres, and may be accompanied by active downward winds in the valleys."
The Civil Aviation Authority calls on everyone to be alert and take caution during thunderstorms and not to cross valleys, avoid low places, and sailing.
Oman Meteorology forecast for Friday said: "The activity of convective rainy clouds continues over the northeastern governorates (North and South Al Sharqiah, Muscat, South Al Batinah and Al Dakhiliyah) and over parts of Al Dhahirah and Dhofar Governorate, with continued rainfall of varying intensity and the flow of wadis."
On Thursday, parts of the governorates of Dhofar, North and South Al Sharqiah, Al Dakhiliyah, Muscat, South and North Al Batinah and Al Dhahirah witnessed thunderstorms of varying intensity.
