Muscat: The Majlis Al Shura will terminate the second annual sitting (2020-2021) of the 9th term (2019-2023), following Royal Orders to end the current convening of the Council of Oman (the bicameral chamber comprising the State Council and Majlis Al Shura).
The procedure comes in implementation of Article 38 of the Council of Oman Law promulgated under Royal Decree No. 7/2021.
This was announced by Sheikh Ahmed Mohammed Al-Nadabi, Secretary General of the Majlis Al Shura, who ONA that “The Majlis was honoured to receive the Royal orders to end the second annual sitting of the Ninth Term in implementation of Article 38 of Oman Council Law.”
The second annual sitting of the current term saw the issuance of Basic Law of the State and Oman Council Law, which defined the Council’s relationship with the government, identified legislative procedures involving the State Council, in addition to internal activity procedures and mechanisms of the running of sessions and standing committees.
The law also enables the Council to formulate its internal regulation in accordance with the Basic Law of the State.
