Institutional quarantine compulsory for all expats entering Oman

Muscat: Institutional quarantine is compulsory for all expats coming to Oman through various land, sea and air ports, said the Government Communication Centre (GC).

According to the GC, the conditions and procedures to be followed before and upon entering the territory of the Sultanate are as follows:

 1- Conducting PCR test within a period not exceeding 72 hours before entering Oman short trips, and for a period not exceeding 96 hours for long trips that take eight hours or more.

 2- Conducting a PCR  test upon arrival at the airport.

 3- Wearing an electronic tracking bracelet and isolation for seven days.

 4- Repeat the PCR  test on the eighth day from the date of arrival in case the examination is negative. It is possible to get out of isolation if the result of the eighth day test is negative.

 5- The isolation period is ten days in case of a positive PCR test upon arrival.  

GC explained that the excluding groups whose condition requires home care due to their health status, with mandatory home quarantine are:

The elderly who are 60 years and above, travellers who suffer from health problems or are undergoing travel treatment, with proof of their health status, and children who are 15 years and under who are also excluded from wearing bracelets and PCR tests.

 "The types of institutional/domestic isolation for travellers, which will be for a period of seven days, with re-examination of the PCR  on the eighth day,  isolation for contacts with infected people, which will be for a period of 14 days, and isolation for the infected people, will be for ten days," GC added.
