Details of Oman participation in Tokyo Olympics unveiled

Muscat: The Oman Olympic Committee (OOC) will hold tomorrow (Tuesday) a meeting with the Sultanate’s delegation participating in the 32nd round of Olympic Games in Tokyo from 23 July to 8 August 2021.

The meeting will touch on the details of participation in the Olympics and the preparatory programmes set for the players, who are the swimmer Issa Sameer al-Adawi, the sprinter Barakat Mubarak al-Harthy, the sharpshooter Hamad Said al-Khatri, and the weightlifter Amir Salim al-Khanjari.

Moreover, the meeting will cover guideline measures for players and administrators to follow during the Olympics in Tokyo, as well as the safety measures against COVID-19 to assure a safe and secure sport environment.

The competitions for the Omani olympic national team will kick off on 31 July. The list includes the player Barakat Mubarak al-Harthy, who will participate in the 100-metre race. He will be accompanied by coach Mohammed Abdullah al-Hooti.

The swimmer Isa Sameer al-Adawi will participate in the 100-metre freestyle swimming race. He will be accompanied by coach Ayman Hamad al-Kalibi. The qualifiers will be held on 27 July.

The Sultanate will be represented by sharpshooter Hamad Said al-Khatri in the shooting division. He will participate in the 50-metre shooting range that will be held on 2 August. He will be accompanied by coach Sultan Saleem al-Rashdi and administrator Sulaiman Hamad al-Hinai.

The weightlifting division includes Amir Salim al-Khanjari who will participate in the 81 kg competition which will be held on 31 July. He will be accompanied by coach Mazin Houmaid al-Badri.
