Muscat: Public Prosecution is continuing investigations with suspects after allegations of embezzlement at the Ministry of Education emerged, Oman's Government Communication Centre announced.
In an online statement, the centre said: “In light of what has become known as “Ministry of Education embezzlement” ,the centre confirms that the authorities are doing their part to the fullest in this case in accordance with legal procedures and calls for avoiding rumours and waiting for the outcome of investigations with the suspects in preparation for bringing them to justice.”
It added: “The concerned authorities are represented by the Public Prosecution as the competent authority to carry out the public proceedings. They continue to conduct the investigation procedures with the suspects in cooperation with the concerned authorities in the State Audit Institution and the Ministry of Education.”
The centre explained that the ministry's specialists are keen to provide all the necessary documents to gather evidence and clarify the truth. “This is a continuation of the sincere efforts that resulted in the discovery of the case by the governmental regulatory bodies,” the statement adds.
The centre affirms that it believes in the right of all to express their opinion and interact with the subject, but calls on all citizens to avoid rumors, misinterpretations and defamation, and to wait for the investigation procedures of the suspects to be brought to justice in accordance with the laws of the Sultanate.
