Muscat: The Ministry of Health (MoH) has organised a first-of-its-kind scientific conference on rehabilitation of lower limbs' musculoskeletal disorders on Friday.
The Ministry of Health represented by the Directorate General of Specialised Medical Care-Medical Rehabilitation Section, in collaboration with the “PhysioPod" platform, UK and the Omani Physiotherapy Association (OPTA) organised the first-of-its-kind scientific conference on rehabilitation of lower limbs musculoskeletal disorders.
The conference saw the participation of around 2,800 local and international experts and specialists in the field of health and 21 lecturers.
Dr Kadhim Jaffer Suleiman, Director General of SMC, emphasised the keenness of the DGSMC represented by the Medical Rehabilitation Services section to implement training programmes and utilise the available resources to achieve the desired goals of these programmes.
Head of the Medical Rehabilitation Services at the General Directorate of Specialised Medical Care, Samia Al Raisi, highlighted the importance of benefiting from international experiences and expertise in physical therapy and rehabilitation.
The three-day conference addressed various topics related to lower limbs' musculoskeletal disorders. Theoretical and practical lectures reviewed the clinical examination methods applied for bones, joints, muscles and ligaments issues, and highlighted the various therapeutic and rehabilitative methods used in rehabilitating patients to help them with daily activities.
In addition, the event also discussed medical rehabilitation in the Middle East, outlining the academic education of various medical rehabilitation specialisations, ways to improve the profession in general and to benefit from international experiences and expertise in this field.
