Awareness campaign to promote Omani products to begin on Sunday

Muscat: The awareness campaign for industrialists will kick off on Sunday as part of the Frankincense Project (the Road to Expo 2020 Dubai) for promoting and marketing Omani products, worldwide.

The campaign will be held as one of the initiatives supported by the General Commission of the Sultanate of Oman in Expo 2020 Dubai in cooperation with a number of government and private entities. These include the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, the Ministry of Social Development, Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, SMEs Development Authority and Taiseer (Oman Trading Platform) the Project Manager.

Mohsin bin Khamis Al Balushi, Advisor of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment and the Sultanate’s Commissioner General for Expo 2020 Dubai said, “The campaign would kick off from July to October 2021 and includes a number of workshops and lectures to be delivered by a number of experts in the fields related to products such as methods of marketing and promoting products, innovation, manufacturing, production and commercial and crafts marketing.”

The campaign is aimed to educate minor industrialists, craftsmen and other entrepreneurs in their various business sectors and to enable their products access the regional and international markets, he said. The campaign also aims to facilitate the participation of Omani products in Expo 2020  Dubai and to increase the level of commercial and industrial awareness and knowledge of entrepreneurs, minor industrialistand producers, which would reflect on the quality of their products and enable them to export their products, he added.  

He said, “The campaign is one of the successful and creative solutions addressing the main challenges the minor industrialists and producers face in the Sultanate. The campaign includes a number of workshops and seminars to be held via video conferencing, attending in person or field visits.”

The campaign also comes within the keenness of the General Commission of the Sultanate in Expo 2020 Dubai, in cooperation with its partners, on development of local industries and boosting the quality of such industries to the level that respond to the needs of local and international consumers. It is also aimed to upgrade and qualify minor industrialists and to familiarise them with the processes of production, manufacturing, marketing and export of products in a professional manner.

It is worth mentioning that the campaign is managed by Taiseer (Oman Trading Platform) the Project Manager in cooperation with the Industrial Innovation Centre, Al Muheet Administrative Training Institute, with the Muscat Media Group as media sponsor.
