Dhofar ready to receive vaccinated tourists
"It is great news that measures are in place to ensure everyone is safe in Oman’s southernmost region,” said Martin Persson, General Manager of Alila Hinu Bay.

Muscat: Magical, misty and green Dhofar is ready to receive vaccinated tourists, following the directives of the Supreme Committee.

Upon the advent of the Khareef season in the Governorate of Dhofar, the Supreme Committee had decided that citizens and residents in the Sultanate who have taken at least one dose of approved vaccines are allowed to visit the southern governorate of Dhofar.

Also, travellers from abroad who have been given two doses of vaccines will be allowed to enter Dhofar, starting from 5 pm on Friday, July 9, 2021. Speaking to the Times of Oman, Martin Persson, General Manager of Alila Hinu Bay, said, “It is great news that measures are in place to ensure everyone is safe in Oman’s southernmost region.”

He also said, “Following such a successful and exciting opening we had last month, we are even more excited to welcome guests this Khareef season to indulge in the Alila experience.”

“With it being such a difficult time to travel, we want to offer Oman’s residents a safe and pleasurable escape without having to go too far,” he added. “Alila Hinu Bay offers the best of both worlds, with its untouched marine life and nature reserves.

“Located in the quaint town of Mirbat and tucked away between Jabal Samhan and the Arabian Sea, the resort is one of Dhofar’s hidden gems. With a whirlwind of discovery, where the seas and mountains hug, there is much to explore this season. Guests can escape the heat and hide away in their very own private slice of paradise, just steps away from the Arabian Sea. The one-bedroom pool villa provides a spacious living room, luxurious outdoor bathtub and private pool, along with a complimentary a la carte breakfast at SeaSalt, all starting from just OMR157,” said Martin Persson, the GM of Alila Hinu Bay.

Another hotelier said, “Vaccinated tourists will help everyone remain safe, including our hotel staff. We are looking forward to welcoming visitors during the Khareef, which is always the most popular tourist season here.”

During the summer months, when most of the Arabian Peninsula experiences soaring temperatures, Dhofar ushers in the monsoon season, bringing with it lush greenery, cooling rains and pleasant temperatures.

Locally known as Khareef, this special season runs from late June to early September.
