MSX index ends marginally lower

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,109.89 points, down 0.28 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index remained unchanged at 0.00 per cent at 597.05 points.

Al Hassan Engineering, up 93.33 per cent, was the top gainer while Oman Fisheries, down 3.53 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Global Investment Holding were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Oman Investment & Financials was the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 793 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR3.5 million, with more than 19 million shares changing hands. Out of 56 traded stocks, 13 advanced, 22 declined and 21 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR82,000 while Local investors were net buyers for OMR76,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR6,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6,554.80 points, down 0.10 per cent. Oman Arab Bank, Oman & Qatar Insurance, Ominvest, Vision Insurance and Oman United Insurance were up 3.23 per cent, 2.67 per cent, 1.88 per cent, 1.14 per cent and 0.96 per cent respectively. Al Anwar Investment, United Finance, Oman & Emirates Holding, Bank Dhofar and Al Sharqia Investment were down 3.42 per cent, 3.28 per cent, 2.63 per cent, 2.33 per cent and 1.87 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 6,008.82 points, down 0.05 per cent. Al Hassan Engineering, Oman Flour Mills and Oman Cables Industry were up 93.33 per cent, 1.51 per cent and 1.32 per cent respectively. Oman Fisheries, National Aluminum Product, Galfar Engineering, Raysut Cement and Al Maha Ceramics were down 3.53 per cent, 1.76 per cent, 1.18 per cent, 0.68 per cent and 0.54 per cent respectively.

Services Index was up by 0.16 per cent before closing at 1,765.46 points. Oman Oil Marketing, Al Maha Marketing, Renaissance Services and Muscat Gases were up 3.52 per cent, 3.17 per cent, 1.89 per cent and 0.55 per cent respectively. Phoenix Power, Oman Investment & Financials, Sharqiyah Desalination, National Gas and Oman Telecommunication were down 2.00 per cent, 1.55 per cent, 0.83 per cent, 0.65 per cent and 0.51 per cent respectively.
