Muscat: A faulty vehicle forced a consumer to file a complaint to the Directorate General of Consumer Protection in Muscat, who ordered that he be given a newer model car.
The consumer bought a new 2016 model vehicle from a local car dealership. During and after the warranty period, faults appeared in the vehicle such as sudden halts while driving and failed ignition.
After several inspections at the dealership, they said that they were unable to find the fault and that there are no spare parts available. After a year of taking the car to the service center and procrastination in repairing the fault, the consumer filed the complaint.
The dealership agreed to exchange the car with a newer 2017 model while the consumer pays an extra OMR 1000.
