COVID-19: Muscat Governorate records 54 new deaths

Muscat: Bausher and Sohar recorded 20 COVID-19 deaths each in the last 72 hours, the highest number reported in Oman on Sunday, according to data from the Ministry of Health.

The Tarassud+ app, which provides daily updates on the COVID-19 situation in the country, reported that Muscat Governorate recorded 54 deaths. 

Twenty cases in Wilayat Bausher aside, Wilayat Seeb reported 16 deaths, while Wilayat Muttrah recorded six. Wilayats of Al Amerat and Muscat witnessed five deaths each, in addition to two deaths in Wilayat Quriyat. 

Outside of the Muscat Governorate, the highest death toll was seen in the North Al Batinah Governorate, which reported 42 deaths, taking the total up to 657. Wilayat Sohar recorded 20 deaths, while Wilayat Saham reported half as many. Wilayat Al Suwaiq reported five deaths, Wilayat Shinas reported four and Wilayat Al Khaboura three.

South Al Batinah Governorate saw 12 deaths, of which Wilayat Barka reported five, Wilayat Masnaah reported three, Wilayat Rustaq reported two and wilayats Nakhal and Al Awabi reported one each.

Al Dakhiliyah Governorate reported 12 new deaths, taking the total up to 301. Of these, four were recorded in Wilayat Bahla, three in Wilayat Sama’ail, two in Wilayat Nizwa and one death each in wilayats Adam, Bidbid and Manah.

In South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, 11 deaths were reported, pushing the total to 224. Wilayat Sur recorded the deaths in the governorate at seven. Jalan Bani Bu Ali recorded two deaths, and both Al Kamil Wal Wafi and Ja’alan Bani Bu Hassan recorded one death each.

Al Buraimi Governorate recorded five deaths, all of them in Wilayat Al Buraimi, taking the total up to 76.

The total number of deaths in North Sharqiyah rose to 152 after three new deaths were reported. Two deaths were in Wilayat Ibra and one in Wilayat Bidiyah.

Dhofar Governorate witnessed two deaths in Wilayat Salalah. Al Dhahirah Governorate recorded two deaths as well, one in each in wilayats Ibri and Yanqul.
