Oman to have vocational and technical education committee

Muscat: The Minister of Education decided to form a head committee for a project to implement vocational and technical education in post-basic education.

A statement issued online by Oman News Agency (ONA) said: "Her Excellency Dr Madiha bint Ahmed Al-Shaibaniyah, Minister of Education, issued a ministerial decision to form a head committee for the project to implement vocational and technical education in post-basic education."

The statement added that the committee will be responsible for the general supervision of the technical and vocational education project in post-basic education, the procedures for analysing the needs and requirements necessary for the implementation of the project and determining the necessary expertise and human resources. It will also look into the adoption of a methodology and an action plan according to the project's implementation mechanism which is in line with the requirements of the labour market, its future needs and the basic skills required in various jobs and professions.
