MSX index ends marginally higher

MSX index ends marginally higher

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,063.40 points, up 0.13 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up 0.59 per cent at 596.68 points.

National Finance, up 4.46 per cent, was the top gainer while Muscat Finance, down 3.08 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Madina Takaful were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover.

A total number of 978 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR3 million, with more than 19 million shares changing hands. Out of 53 traded stocks, 21 advanced, 15 declined and 17 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR299,000 while local investors were net buyers for OMR281,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR19,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6,466.07 points, down 0.11 per cent. National Finance, Dhofar Insurance, Arabia Falcon Insurance, Oman United Insurance and Madina Takaful were up 4.46 per cent, 3.43 per cent, 3.23 per cent, 3.00 per cent and 1.90 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 6,030.52 points, up 0.72 per cent.  Al Maha Ceramic, Al Anwar Ceramic, Jazeera Steel Product, Raysut Cement and Oman Cables Industry were up 2.22 per cent, 2.14 per cent, 2.09 per cent, 2.03 per cent and 0.86 per cent respectively. Galfar Engineering, National Aluminum Product and Dhofar Cattle Feed were down 2.35 per cent, 1.16 per cent and 1.09 per cent respectively.

Services Index was up by 0.44 per cent before closing at 1,722.96 points. Sohar Power, Sharqiyah Desalination, Sembcorp Salalah, Al Suwadi Power and Oman Telecommunication were up 4.44 per cent, 3.42 per cent, 2.44 per cent, 1.85 per cent and 1.02 per cent respectively. National Gas and Oman Investment & Financials were down 1.30 per cent and 0.86 per cent respectively.
