Agreement on OCCI Chair for Economic Studies at SQU signed

Muscat: An agreement to establish the OCCI Chair for Economic Studies was signed by the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) with Sultan Qaboos University (SQU).
Said bin Saleh Al Kiyoumi, OCCI Chairman and Dr. Ali bin Saud Al Bimani, SQU Vice- Chancellor signed the agreement. The event took place at the OCCI headquarters.
Al Kiyoumi said that the establishment of OCCI chair for economic studies is a joint venture between OCCI and SQU to promote and understand the current economic issues in the Sultanate and to contribute to strengthening the role of the private sector in achieving economic diversification and international competition.

Dr. Al Bimani said that SQU has accumulated experiences of different ways, including economics adding that the importance of this chair is to assign people to do the research to be shared between the university and the industrial sector.
Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef, OCCI board member and Head of Economic Committee said that the chair represents a window to OCCI through which it can discuss the most prominent concerns of the private sector, providing relevant economic analysis, interpretation of economic data and statistics, and support for trade delegations visiting the Sultanate and the Omani delegations going abroad.
