COVID-19: Shura Council calls for urgent opening of field hospitals across Oman

Muscat: Chairman of the Health and Environmental Committee of the Shura Council has called for the urgent opening of field hospitals in various governorates of Oman due to the increasing number of Covid-19 deaths and cases.

Hilal Al Sarmi, Chairman of the Health and Environmental Committee, delivers an urgent statement about the increase in the number of deaths and cases as a result of COVID-19 and the measures taken for this pandemic in Oman, and calls for the urgent opening of field hospitals in the various governorates of the Sultanate.

Al Sarmi, in his urgent statement, refers to the number of deaths, which exceeded 35 deaths per day, at a rate of one death every 36 minutes, and the number of cases to thousands per day, at a rate of 80 cases per hour, which are unprecedented indicators.

Al Sarmi calls in his urgent statement to:

 1- A comprehensive evaluation of the various levels of health care provision for Covid-19 patients through an independent body and submitting its report to His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik within two weeks.

2- Providing urgently needed vaccinations for all ages and groups within a maximum of one month, without any discriminattion.

3- Urgently opening field hospitals in all governorates and benefiting from the available buildings, health service providers, retirees and students of medical colleges and health institutes.

4- Establishment of free examination centres for citizens for early detection of new cases and focus on various mutations.

 5- Activating the Tarassud app and not allowing anyone to enter commercial complexes, government buildings, etc. without it.

 6- Suspension of all flights coming from the areas affected by the mutant, such as the Republic of India and others, without exception, for a period of at least two weeks.

 7- Postponing bank installments for those affected by the pandemic for a period of six months and without interest for others.
