Muscat: The number of deaths due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Oman crossed the 3,000 mark on Monday, reaching a grim milestone.
As many as 2,243 new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) were registered in the Sultanate on Monday, in addition to 46 new COVID-19-related deaths. This brings the total number of positive COVID-19 cases to 264,302 in the Sultanate.
The total number of COVID-19-related deaths reached 3013, the Ministry of Health said. The Ministry added that 1720 new cases have recovered, bringing the total number to 231,718 recoveries.
The Ministry also pointed out that 197 cases were hospitalised over the past 24 hours, and the total number of current hospitalised COVID-19-infected patients stands at 1650 - of them 506 are in intensive care units (ICUs).
Meanwhile, the Directorate General of Health Services of Muscat Governorate (DGHS-Muscat) has added this week an in-house vaccination service against COVID-19 for the physically challenged and disabled persons.
The Directorate directed the family members or relatives of the patients to head directly to the nearest health centre to book an appointment to receive the vaccine.
The Directorate has also resumed the drive-through vaccination service in Oman Automobile Association to reduce the time and effort in order to cover the highest number of community members in a short time.
