We Love Oman: Historic mosque of Nizwa

Masjid Al Fardh, also known as Masjid Al Ahwas, is one of the historic mosques in Nizwa in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate. The mosque is located at Ghaweer area close to Nizwa Fort and Al Sarooj House.

Researcher Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Saifi said that the mosque is dated back to the 5th century and was reconstructed during the reign of Imam Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalili in 1348 AH. The Hadith, Arabic grammar and -the Holy Quran were taught in  the mosque.
The mosque was first built with clay and limestone.  A plan has been set for renovation of the mosque during the upcoming few years.
