Muscat: As part of the company's efforts to encourage and promote the culture of volunteering among its employees, the Oman Environmental Services Holding Company (be'ah) announced the launch “#YourSpace” a Volunteer Employee Programme which covers all employees of the company across various governorates of the Sultanate.
The program will be implemented over four months with the main objectives of enabling be'ah staff to spread their knowledge and experience through community interactions, instilling a culture of volunteerism among employees, improving staff performance, and raising their awareness about the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals, also called global goals.
Under the programme, be’ah employees will interact with communities and spread knowledge and share experiences related to environmental conservation for future generations. The programme will also enable them to participate in various awareness campaigns and initiate the development of new and innovative voluntary campaigns, as well as develop aspects of their personality through interaction with different segments of society.
Each of the activities under the “#YourSpace” programme is linked to one or more of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals. Activities of the programme’s first phase include the Hydroponic Initiative, the Women's Empowerment Initiative, the Renewable Energy Initiative (Solar) and the Circular Economy Awareness Initiative.The programme is expected to be expanded to cover other initiatives in the coming phases.
Hafsa Hamoud Al Harasia, Community Awareness Programme Lead at be'ah, said, "We at be’ah believe in the importance of volunteering and seek to promote the culture of volunteerism among our employees as a key component of their performance and because they are the cornerstone of implementing the company's vision and strategy."
"The launch of “#YourSpace” Volunteer Employee Programme is a translation of the company's efforts to engage and integrate employees further with the community so that we can contribute effectively to achieving the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals aimed at alleviating poverty, protecting the planet and ensuring that all the planet's population enjoys peace," she added.
